The Dalmore has unveiled the third instalment of its ultra-limited Cask Curation Series whiskies, created in collaboration with Château Mont-Redon of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Only 150 sets of The Dalmore Cask Curation Series: The Red Wine Cask Edition will be made available, each priced at £36,100.

The new chapter arrives as part of the Highland distillery’s long-running exploration into the influence of rare wine and sherry casks on its richly textured spirit. First launched in 2023, the Cask Curation Series has quickly become one of The Dalmore’s most sought-after prestige collections.

The Dalmore has long placed cask selection at the centre of its whisky-making philosophy, a practice that dates back more than 150 years.

Three aged Dalmore single malts finished in Mont-Redon casks

Following The Sherry Edition (2023), created with González Byass, and The Port Edition (2024), developed with Graham’s, this third chapter from The Dalmore turns fully towards red wine, drawing on the character of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

The partnership with Château Mont-Redon was a natural step, says the distillery. The estate is one of the oldest and most prestigious in the appellation, known for its diverse soils of limestone, sand and the region’s iconic galet roulés. Its wines, predominantly Grenache Noir with Syrah, Mourvèdre and other traditional varieties, are known for their plummy richness and layered savoury depth.

The Dalmore’s whisky team sought to capture these qualities by finishing each of the three aged whiskies, 24, 34 and 43 years old, in fresh 2023 Mont-Redon red wine casks.

All three whiskies are housed in a hand-crafted carry case made by Italian atelier AB Florence, designed to evoke the concept of travel and the long voyage of the casks from France to Scotland. This edition arrives in bold lapis blue, a nod both to the deep colour of ripe Rhône grapes and the heritage of the region.

Master Distiller Richard Paterson OBE describes the project as “a journey of discovery… seeing how different aged and rare whiskies can be subtly enhanced by this red wine.”

All expressions are presented in natural colour and non-chill filtered.

The Dalmore Cask Curation Series tasting notes

The Red Wine Edition – aged 24 Years

Bottled at 40.7% ABV, the youngest of the trilogy opens with aromas of rich honey, sweet citrus and orchard fruits, with a gentle lift of spice. The palate introduces red berries, crème brûlée and orange zest, rounded out by subtle dark toffee. The finish is layered with toffee, mandarin, lightly roasted coffee and soft exotic spices.

The Dalmore Cask Curation Series: The Red Wine Edition – aged 34 Years

A decade on brings greater refinement. At 40.5% ABV, the nose reveals subtle florals, forest fruits, vanilla and Seville orange, underscored by a soft wood spice. On the palate, expect dark berries, stone fruits and vanilla. The finish carries warm honey, white chocolate, with a hint of liquorice and wood spice.

The Dalmore Cask Curation Series: The Red Wine Edition – aged 43 Years

The oldest expression in the collection, with an ABV of 40.3%, presents an aromatic tapestry of dried fruit, orange marmalade, manuka honey and antique leather. The palate deepens into forest berries, dark chocolate and honeyed mango, accompanied by warming spice. The finish exits with dark fruit, cocoa, espresso and aged wood spice.

Priced at £36,100 ($44,450), only 150 sets of The Red Wine Cask Edition will be made available globally.
