MotoArto exhibition opens with custom motorcycle painted by The Prodigy star Maxim

A custom motorcycle created by Renard Motorcycles with bespoke detailing from The Prodigy’s Maxim, is the star turn at MotoArto, a novel art show running in London this week.

A true one-off, and yours for £100,000, this kinetic sculpture is the headline attraction at The Bike Shed, Shoreditch. The Luxe Review was at its grand unveiling, although sadly not to take it for a spin…

What is MotoArto?

“MotoArto is a collision of worlds,” explains co-founder Marchella de Angelis. Part rolling gallery, part design salon, this three-day show is an absorbing exploration of how machinery becomes muse. Visitors should expect everything from modern sculpture to photography, immersive installations, and, of course, motorcycles.

Renard is no stranger to bespoke brilliance, blending modern engineering with the finesse of old-world craftsmanship. But Wings of Freedom pushes the envelope further.

Maxim’s feathered paintwork softens the aggressive geometry of the bike. The unique creation exemplifies Maxim’s duality as a musician and painter. The result challenges the idea of what a custom motorcycle is supposed to be.

“This motorbike isn’t just a machine,” Maxim says. “It’s a canvas. It’s delicacy meeting force… about transformation and unexpected beauty.”

With gold-toned feather motifs arcing across its bodywork, Wings of Freedom evokes the motion of flight even when the bike is parked. Allan Kampus of Renard adds, “True harmony emerges when even the most subtle elements enhance the experience, without overwhelming its essential character”.

Beyond the bike

There’s plenty more to rev the imagination at MotoArto. Boutique bike maker Langen has its new Lightspeed model, an elegant speedster built for the modern aesthete.

For four-wheel fans, automotive restoration royalty Thornley Kelham premieres a reimagined Jaguar XK Roadster, a machine as likely to turn heads in Mayfair as it is to grace a Milanese design studio.

Art lovers, too, are well catered for. More than 20 contemporary artists present new works influenced by motoring culture.

Caroline Chinakwe puts a startling contemporary spin on 1970’s movie aesthetic, while Sophie Tea live-paints a brand-new all-electric Porsche Macan, transforming it into a moving work of art.

MotoArto runs from 3–5 July 2025 at The Bike Shed, Shoreditch. Tickets and details available at www.motoarto.com.
