London is about to get a splash more colourful, and not just on canvas. This April and May, Spot Whiskeys is raising a glass to World Art Day (April 15) with a calendar of events that blend the brand’s artistic legacy with limited-edition cocktails, pairing menus, pottery sessions, and painting workshops.
Whether you’re a whisky fan, a cocktail connoisseur, or a lover of all things art, there’s plenty to explore across the capital.
Before we dive into what’s happening, it’s worth understanding the story behind the Spot Whiskeys label. The Spot range dates back to 1887, when Mitchell & Son, already known for their work in baking, confectionery and wine, began bonding whiskey in Dublin.
Their innovative labelling system used coloured paint daubs to indicate the age of each cask, giving rise to now-iconic expressions: Green Spot, Yellow Spot, Red Spot, Blue Spot, and most recently, Gold Spot.
This inventive, visual approach was more than just practical, it was artistic. And now, over 130 years later, Spot is embracing its origins by celebrating World Art Day with the same vibrant flair.
