Calling the arockalypse: OnePlus partners monster rockers Lordi for all-metal Nord 4 smartphone

Lordi take a call on OnePlus smartphone

Smartphone maker OnePlus has enlisted Finnish hard rockers Lordi to help launch its new all-metal Nord 4 mobile. Lordi, who won Eurovision in 2006 with ‘Hard Rock Hallelujah’, have released a similarly catchy single, ‘Made of Metal’, inspired by the new phone.

The OnePlus Nord 4 is the first all-metal unibody smartphone of the 5G era, and comes with a raft of AI capabilities, including AI Summarize, which condenses lengthy emails, and AI Eraser 2.0, which removes unwanted elements from photos. Under the hood, there’s a Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3 processor, up to 16GB RAM, a 5,500 mAh battery, with SUPERVOOC charging.

“We never thought anything could be more metal than us, but the all-metal OnePlus Nord 4 proved us wrong…”

The Nord 4 also features AquaTouch, which allows the phone to function perfectly even with wet hands. Just what you need when you’re a slavering rock monster trying to update your socials.

“M-E-T-A-L. We love metal, and so do OnePlus, which is why we jumped at the challenge of writing and producing a song inspired by the world’s only metal unibody phone of the 5G era,” said Mr. Lordi, the lead singer of Lordi.

“We never thought anything could be more metal than us, but the all-metal OnePlus Nord 4 proved us wrong. We can’t wait for our fans to lose their heads to the hellraising new track, all while celebrating the most metal collaboration of all time. Can we say it one more time for people at the back? M-E-T-A-L!!!!!!!!”

Celina Shi, Chief Marketing Officer of OnePlus Europe, echoed the sentiment: “This might not be your typical smartphone partnership, but OnePlus isn’t your typical tech brand.”

‘Made of Metal’, by Lordi, is now available to stream on Spotify and Apple Music (it’s great, obviously). The band’s 19th studio album is set for release in 2025.

Lordi were recently featured on the cover of Vogue Scandinavia, brandishing all-vegan handbags. The group are long-time supporters of animal rights charity PETA.
