Premium Japanese watchmaker Orient Star has announced the M34 F8 Date, the new flagship of its Contemporary Collection. Available in two versions, the stylish timepiece takes inspiration from the Perseid meteor shower.
The Contemporary Collection takes inspiration from Greek mythology and celestial phenomena; the collection joins the current line-up of Classic, Contemporary and Sports models.
The shooting star theme is brought to life in two Orient Star models: a limited edition white dial version, restricted to just 160 pieces, and a regular production model with a deep blue dial. Both feature intricate, hand-carved patterns on their dials, reminiscent of meteors streaking across the night sky.
A limited edition white dial version is restricted to just 160 pieces…
The M34 F8 boasts a three-hand dial displaying hours, minutes, and centre seconds, along with a date display positioned at 3 o’clock. A signature power reserve indicator, unique to Orient Star, is located at 12 o’clock, allowing wearers to easily monitor the remaining energy of their timepiece.
Fine details abound, like the rotor’s chamfered Geneva stripes, visible through the sapphire crystal caseback. With a water resistance of 10 bar, the M34 F8 Date features a 40 mm diameter case crafted from stainless steel, and matching bracelet.
The white dial variant exudes a luminous brilliance akin to meteors lighting up the early morning sky. The blue dial model, on the other hand, evokes the night sky, achieved through Epson’s advanced optical multilayer technology. This technique utilises nano-thin transparent films to control light reflectance and transmittance, resulting in a striking depth of colour.
Both dial versions are protected by dual curved sapphire crystal glass, treated with anti-reflective coating on both sides.
At the heart of the M34 F8 Date is an automatic mechanical calibre F8N64 in-house movement, with signature silicon escape wheel, first seen on its 2021 Skeleton model. Highly accurate, it has a power reserve of 60 hours.
Available now, the M34 F8 Date white edition (RE-BX0002S) is priced at £2,199.99. The Blue Edition is TBA.
