Originally inspired by Sting’s track ‘Desert Rose,’ Message in a Bottle weaves together themes of displacement, immigration, and survival, resonating with global audiences through high-energy footwork, exhilarating dance styles, and inspiring athleticism.
The narrative follows the journey of three parted siblings, Leto, Mati, and Tana, as they navigate through a world turned upside down. From a village alive with joyous celebrations to sudden siege, their daring adventures serve as a poignant reflection of survival, hope, and love in the face of adversity.
Kate Prince, Sadler’s Wells Associate Artist and the visionary behind the choreography, has worked closely with BAFTA-winning director Marcus Viner to capture the essence of the stage production for the big screen. This theatrical release is made possible through a partnership with the Royal Opera House.
