Netflix reveals ambitious UK slate, including the return of a Black Mirror favourite

Netflix, the global streaming giant, has unveiled an exciting array of upcoming TV shows at its Next on Netflix UK event in London. Anne Mensah, the streamer’s VP of UK Content, introduced a diverse range of titles coming from UK production houses, ranging from compelling dramas and documentaries, to the return of a cult TV favourite. 

The event, hosted by Matt and Emma Willis, provided a platform for stars and creators to share insights into their upcoming projects.

Mensah highlighted the streamer’s commitment to offering a plethora of content catering to diverse tastes, stating, “British television has such a long history of producing truly brilliant entertainment, and we are forever proud to be part of this tradition.”

Here’s a sneak peek at some of the UK-centric shows that Netflix announced:

Adolescence (working title) | new series

Award-winning talents Stephen Graham, Philip Barantini, and Jack Thorne unite for this four-part limited series. Adolescence is an ambitious crime drama, written by Graham and Thorne, which will employ a real-time, one-shot style, promising a gripping viewing experience. Further casting details are set to be revealed in due course.

Bear Hunt (working title) | new series

Hosted by Holly Willoughby, Bear Hunt is a new action-oriented reality games show, in which celebrities are dropped into the Costa Rican jungle to face one of the world’s most fearsome predators, Bear Grylls. We’re told to expect thrilling challenges and the ultimate test of survival instincts.

Black Mirror Season 7 | Returning Series

Charlie Brooker’s acclaimed anthology series returns with six brand new episodes, including a sequel to the cult favourite Star Trek-inspired sci-fi adventure USS Callister. The upcoming season will delve into dark, satirical narratives, promising thought-provoking storytelling that explores the implications of modern technology.

Buying London | new series

In which we follow property mogul Daniel Daggers and his team of agents as they navigate London’s luxury real estate market. With a focus on high-end properties and the personal lives of the agents, this series promises a glimpse into the glamorous world of luxury real estate.

Grown Ups | New series

Based on Marian Keyes’ bestselling novel, this ensemble family drama revolves around the complexities of three couples within the same family. With shifting dynamics and deep-seated resentments, expect convoluted drama.

Millennium Diamond Heist | New series

Six Nations: Full Contact S2 | Returning series

Fans of rugby will rejoice as this insider’s look into the prestigious rugby tournament returns. With behind-the-scenes moments and intense matches, this series promises to immerse viewers in the exhilarating world of international rugby. From the producers of Formula 1: Drive to Survive.
