Premium Tequila Enemigo Extra Añejo 00 challenges whisky as your go-to tipple

Tequila Enemigo with a stylish shoulder bag

Is it time to swap your favourite whisky for Tequila?  UK-founded luxury Tequila brand Tequila Enemigo believes so, offering its Extra Añejo 00 as compelling evidence.

This luxury libation has been aged in custom-made American Oak barrels, making it an intriguing choice for those seeking a novel twist on classic cocktails.

Interest in premium tequilas is booming. In the United States, tequila’s popularity has surged, overtaking American whiskey in terms of sales value. Indeed, it’s the second best-selling spirit after vodka. Numerous celebrities have launched their own tequila brands, contributing to the category’s allure.

Extra Añejo ’00’ exudes complexity, offering notes of oak, tobacco, and demerara sugar on the palate, giving way to robust, fruity agave flavours. It certainly sounds like an intriguing experience, for even the most discerning whisky aficionado.

To best appreciate the smoothness and depth of Extra Añejo 00, Tequila Enemigo recommends serving it in flutes. For a more traditional approach, rocks glasses can be deployed. The brand advocates enjoying this tequila without ice, positioning it as an exquisite digestif.

Connoisseurs are encouraged to savour each sip, allowing the complex notes to unfold on the palate. The ritual of sipping, rather than shooting, unveils the craftsmanship and texture, creating a more immersive tasting experience.

Distilled in the historic town of Tequila, nestled in the foothills of the Tequila volcano in Mexico, Tequila Enemigo is crafted using the finest Blue Weber agave and local water, filtered through mineral-rich volcanic soil. Employing modern and environmentally friendly techniques, the tequila is aged in custom-made American Oak barrels and purified to achieve an extraordinarily smooth, clear liquid.

Tequila is divided into three primary categories: Blanco (Silver), the base form, is undiluted and unaged. Reposado is aged in oak barrels for two months up to a year. Añejo is aged for 1 to 3 years.

Since its launch in 2017, Tequila Enemigo has been collecting prestigious awards worldwide. Awarded ‘Best Extra Anejo in Show’ at the New York International Spirits Competition, Tequila Enemigo Extra Añejo 00 is now available from Amazon and The Whisky Exchange.
