Aged for 21 years in rum casks, this Jameson Irish whiskey is untypically tropical

Jameson Remixed Carribean Beats whiskey with two glasses

Looking for something a little different from your dram? Jameson has released Jameson Remixed Caribbean Beats, a 21-year-old Irish whiskey, aged exclusively in rum-seasoned casks.

This unique expression is a blend of single pot still and single grain Irish whiskies, initially laid down in rum casks from the Caribbean island of Barbados over two decades ago. Master Distiller Kevin O’Gorman then extended the ageing process for an additional three years in Selección de Maestros Havana Club rum-seasoned casks, bringing additional complexity to the liquid.

The grain whiskey, enriched by brown sugar and vanilla, harmonises with the pot still’s notes of orange zest and mango. The result maintains Jameson’s signature smooth DNA while embracing a fresh Caribbean flavour profile.

Tasting notes speak of warming spices, chocolate-dipped honeycomb, and hints of citrus and coconut shavings on the nose, with honeycomb, orange zest, and mango on the palate.

“Through innovation, careful craft, and over two decades of maturation, we found the sweet spot where the rhythm of the Caribbean meets the beat of the Irish drum,” says O’Gorman. “We can’t wait for whiskey enthusiasts to experience Jameson Remixed Caribbean Beats.”

Angela Coral Medina, Brewing and Distilling Specialist, adds: “Maturation in rum casks creates a delicious and unique flavour that brings together spice, earthiness, and sweetness, while complimenting the traditional fragrant, floral, and fruity notes that are synonymous within the much-loved Jameson style of whiskey.”

It follows Jameson 15 Year Old Single Pot Still, launched in 2022 to celebrate the spirit of classic discontinued whiskeys, as part of the Jameson Anthology.

This unique homage to Irish, Caribbean, and Cuban craftsmanship is bottled at 46% ABV. Priced at €280 per 500ml bottle, only 2,900 bottles of this intriguing fusion will be made available online here.
