The Sopranos prequel movie, The Many Saints of Newark, will premiere on premium video on demand October 25, following its limited cinema run. Setting the scene for the award-winning HBO drama series, the film takes place in the late sixties, at the time of the Newark race riots.

During its six-season run, The Sopranos was honoured with 21 Primetime Emmy Awards, five Golden Globe Awards, and two Peabody Awards. It’s widely regarded as one of the most influential television drama series of all time.
Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World), who won an Emmy for his directing work on the original show, directs from a screenplay by series creator David Chase and Lawrence Konner. The film was shot on location in New Jersey and New York, and features several characters from the original series.
