Kate Bush and Iron Maiden nominated for 2021 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, full list here

British rock legends Iron Maiden and Kate Bush are amongst the 16 nominees for induction into the 36th Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The Induction Ceremony will take place this autumn in Cleveland, Ohio. Inductees will be announced in May 2021.

Iron Maiden, who led the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal in the late seventies,  have released 40 albums and are one of the world’s most successful touring metal bands. Kate Bush, with 11 albums under her belt, has been a seminal influence on the pop and rock scene.

The full nomination list for this year comprises Mary J. Blige, Kate Bush, Devo, Foo Fighters, The Go-Go’s, Iron Maiden, JAY-Z, Chaka Khan, Carole King, Fela Kuti, LL Cool J, New York Dolls, Rage Against the Machine, Todd Rundgren, Tina Turner and Dionne Warwick.

To be eligible for nomination, an artist or band must have released its first commercial recording at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination.

Seven out of 16 of the Nominees make the ballot for the first time, including Foo Fighters, The Go-Go’s, Iron Maiden, JAY-Z, Mary J. Blige, Fela Kuti, and Dionne Warwick.

Chaka Khan was previously nominated both solo and with Rufus. Carole King and Tina Turner could become the second and third female artists inducted twice, following Stevie Nicks’ 2019 election.

If Foo Fighters are inducted, Dave Grohl will also become a twice-inducted performer.

“This remarkable ballot reflects the diversity and depth of the artists and music the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame celebrates” says John Sykes, Chairman, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. “These Nominees have left an indelible impact on the sonic landscape of the world and influenced countless artists that have followed them.”

Nominee ballots are sent to an international voting body of more than 1,000 artists, historians, and members of the music industry, who then weigh an artist’s musical influence on other artists, their length of career and the quality of their body of work.

Fans can also participate in the Induction selection process with the Fan Vote, over at rockhall.com, until April 30. The top five artists, as selected by the public, will comprise a ‘fans’ ballot’ that will be tallied along with the other ballots to select the 2021 Inductees.
