Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant will be your Undoing this October

We’ve just had our first glimpse of HBO’s upcoming psychological drama The Undoing, and our nerves are already jangled.

Based on the best-seller You Should Have Known by Jean Hanff Korelitz, the limited series stars Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant and will air weekly on Sky Atlantic and streaming service Now TV from October 26.

Behind the scenes of The undoing

Here’s the set-up: Grace Fraser (Kidman) has the ideal life. She’s a successful therapist with a devoted husband and young son who attends an elite private school in New York City.

But all this changes overnight: a violent death, a missing husband, and, in the place of a man Grace thought she knew, only a chain of terrible revelations.

Left behind in the wake of a spreading and very public disaster and horrified by the ways in which she has failed to heed her own advice, Grace must dismantle one life and create another for her child and herself…

Prepare to be stressed out

Written by David E. Kelley, who has formidable form in this genre, with Big Little Lies, The Practice, Boston Legal and Picket Fences on his resume, we’re expecting sharp characterisation and jolting twists. The undoing is directed by Susanne Bier (Brothers, After the Wedding, In a Better World, Birdbox).

The Undoing also stars Donald Sutherland, Noah Jupe, Edgar Ramirez, Lily Rabe, Ismael Cruz Cordova, Matilda DeAngeli and Noma Dumezweni.
