Samsung sweetens 2020 QLED 4k TV range with free soundbar giveaway

Now could be a great time to snap up a 2020 Samsung QLED TV, as the company has announced that it’ll be giving away a HW-T400 soundbar to anyone buying a QLED telly over 55-inches, as part of a promotion that will run till August 11.

And if you’d prefer a soundbar with a higher end spec than the HW-T400, then it’ll upgrade you to a Q Series soundbar (HW-Q60T, HW-Q70T and HW-Q800T) from just £200.

The promotion covers the entire QLED 4k screen range, all the way up to the brand’s 8k flagship TV, the Q950TS, and applies to UK and Ireland shoppers.

If you’re tempted, we reckon the promotion works best with the cheaper QLEDS, like the Q60T, Q70T and Q80T. That’s because the step-up models all have increasingly sophisticated and immersive onboard audio systems, so any benefits offered by the HW-T400 are correspondingly less.

The HW-T400 is a compact all-in-one (no separate subwoofer) soundbar, that typically retails for £149.

Rather cutely, it can partner your chosen Samsung QLED TV via Bluetooth, reducing the amount of wire spaghetti behind the TV. You can also stream to it over Bluetooth from your mobile.

A two-channel design, it offers a wide stereo soundstage, and has 40W of amplification onboard.

The Samsung QLED TV range combines dynamic 4k HDR picture quality with the brand’s Tizen smart TV platform and some advanced gaming features, including low input lag for uncompromised gaming performance. All QLED screens are also guaranteed burn-in free, which is good news if you tend to play for hours on end.

What Samsung QLED TV should I buy to partner a HW-T400 soundbar?

If you’re planning on buying a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X, then our advice is opt for Samsung’s Q80T model which has 4k @ 120fps HDMI support. This is the highest frame rate the two next-gen games systems will support. If high-end console gaming isn’t a priority, opt for the cheaper Q70T or Q60T models.
