Amazon Prime prepares to unleash The Walking Dead: World Beyond

The third TV series from the AMC’s Walking Dead universe is shambling onto Amazon Prime Video April 13 – and Amazon has released its first images from the show. Colour us excited!

The programme, which follows on from The Walking Dead and spin-off Fear the Walking Dead, is co-created by Scott M. Gimple, with Matt Negrete on board as co-creator and showrunner.

According to Gimple, viewers can expect a crossover with AMC’s existing Walking Dead shows, although it’s not clear if this is character cameos or an extended story arc that spans the three series. The story-telling challenge is that the show will exist in a different time period to its peers.

World Beyond promises fresher zombies

The series stars Aliyah Royale, Alexa Mansour, Annet Mahendru, Nicolas Cantu, Hal Cumpston and Nico Tortorella.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond is something of a prequel, which focuses on the first generation raised in the zombie apocalypse.

The new zombie show also guest stars Natalie Gold (Succession, The Land of Steady Habits) as Lyla, a mysterious figure operating in the shadows on behalf of the cause she believes in; Al Calderon (Step Up: High Water) as Barca; Scott Adsit (Veep, 30 Rock) as Tony; and Ted Sutherland (Fear Street, Rise) as Percy.
