If you own a Linn DS Network Music player (even a first gen Klimax model purchased a decade ago), you’re in for a nice surprise. Linn has announced support for Roon, the rich music management and browsing software, across its entire range.
Roon has been quietly developing a solid fan base, thanks to the way it allows users to browse their digital music library. Artist photos, bios, reviews, lyrics and even tour dates are all interconnected by intelligent links, making browsing a breeze. Roon software will work alongside Kazoo, Linn’s own control app.
Subscribers are now able to select a Linn DS player from the Roon control app, and listen in up to Studio Master quality through their audio system. From version 1.5, Roon will be able to stream high-resolution audio from Tidal, play files from a network NAS or work with iTunes libraries.
Gilad Tiefenbrun, Linn Managing Director
‘Linn’s open approach to software development has led to the creation of a diversity of control apps, allowing our customers to find the solution that works best for them,” says Gilad Tiefenbrun, Linn Managing Director. “Roon’s offering of an intuitive music management and rich browsing experience led us to collaborate on this new implementation and we are delighted to introduce Roon as a new and exciting way for our customers to interact with their Linn system.”
Enno Vandermeer, Roon CEO, describes Linn as a pioneer of high-performance network streaming, noting: “For years the audiophile community has wanted to use Linn products with Roon.”
