The Macallan A Night on Earth The Finale brings whisky series to a close in New Orleans

The Macallan ANOE-The-Finale-with-Senior Whisky Maker Diane Stuart

The Macallan is bringing its A Night on Earth whisky series to a close with a New Orleans-inspired single malt.

Created by The Macallan’s Whisky Mastery Team, its flavour profile takes cues from the city’s celebrated cuisine and cocktail culture.

The whisky brings together the rich sweetness associated with sherry seasoned American oak and the warming spice of European oak.

Senior Whisky Maker Diane Stuart said the aim was to to create a layered, harmonious expression that reflects New Orleans’ appetite for bold flavours and inventive combinations.

“By carefully balancing our exceptional sherry seasoned American and European oak casks, we have created a whisky that is vibrant, harmonious and unapologetically bold, with layers of citrus, creamy sweetness and warming spice that reflect the city’s enduring spirit of celebration.”

The Macallan A Night on Earth, The Finale tasting notes

Bottled at 43% ABV, A Night on Earth, The Finale has a vibrant brass colour, an evocative nod to the city’s brass bands and musical heritage.

On the nose, expect bright orange peel leads, accompanied by cinnamon, star anise, clove and delicate peppercorn. Sticky treacle, chocolate and dried berries provide a deeper background.

The palate, we’re told, introduces ginger, anise and nutmeg, balanced by creamy vanilla and almond praline. Dried fruit and cherries add further sweetness, alongside polished oak and spun sugar.

The finish brings soft spices and a lingering note of creamy sweet oak.

An evocation of New Orleans

The launch marks the final chapter of a series that has explored New Year celebrations around the globe. The Macallan has worked with artists on each annual release, pairing whisky-making with packaging that reflects the traditions and character of its chosen setting.

For The Finale, the distillery collaborated with New Orleans-born visual artist and painter Hill Spriggins. Drawing on her own memories of New Year’s Eve in the city, Spriggins has created three expressive artworks that feature across different layers of the packaging.

Her illustrations capture the colour and movement of New Orleans, from its jazz clubs and lively streets to quieter moments as dawn arrives. The outer pack uses a textured material designed to echo canvas, bringing the original paintings into the presentation.

The Macallan A Night on Earth, The Finale is available now from The Whisky Exchange, priced £93.25.
