Johnnie Walker Blue Label curries favour with new Indian Festive Blend limited edition whisky

Johnnie Walker Festive Blend bottle on satin

A new Johnnie Walker Blue Label blend has been created for India’s festive season, drawing on rare reserves and flavours inspired by the country’s culinary traditions.

Johnnie Walker has unveiled the Johnnie Walker Blue Label Indian Festive Blend, a limited-edition expression developed by Johnnie Walker Master Blender Dr Emma Walker using some of the rare whiskies from the brand’s reserves.

According to Johnnie Walker, only one in every 10,000 casks in its reserve is considered to have the depth of flavour required for Blue Label.

The new blend has been created to complement the richness and diversity of Indian cuisine, taking inspiration from the balance of spice, sweetness and aromatic complexity found across the country’s festive cooking. Dr Walker has layered notes of cardamom, clove and cinnamon with sweetness and the characteristic depth associated with Johnnie Walker Blue Label. The supplied release notes do not state the whisky’s age or ABV.

Johnnie Walker Blue Label Indian Festive Blend tasting notes

On the nose and palate, the Indian Festive Blend brings together fragrant cardamom and saffron with delicate rosewater and bright citrus, says the whiskymaker. Honeyed richness and chocolate-dipped fruit add sweetness, while warm spices provide depth. A gentle wisp of smoke completes the profile, with the combination intended to evoke the warmth of festive gatherings and fireworks.

The new expression also continues Johnnie Walker’s creative partnership with Indian couturier Rahul Mishra. Now in its second year, the collaboration brings together Scotch whisky craftsmanship and contemporary Indian design, with the festive season providing the theme for a wider programme of celebrations.

Johnnie Walker puts focus on India

The launch is the beginning of a broader Johnnie Walker Blue Label festive campaign in India. Over the coming months, the brand and Rahul Mishra are planning exclusive experiences, immersive activations and curated celebrations exploring the relationship between whisky, Indian culture and contemporary design.
