Smeg has entered the standalone air fryer market with a countertop model that blends the Italian brand’s distinctive aesthetic with some novel cooking twists.
Styling will be familiar to the Smeg faithful. The AFC01 Dual Flavour Air Fryer comes in Black, White, Emerald Green and Storm Blue, colours designed to coordinate with the brand’s wider Collezione collection.
The AFC01 offers two dedicated cooking modes. Crispy is intended for foods such as vegetables, chips, breaded dishes and snacks, using hot air circulation to deliver even browning and a golden, crunchy finish.
A second Juicy+Crispy mode adds an internal steaming system to the hot air circulation. Controlled humidity during cooking is designed to keep food moist and tender inside while creating a crisp, fragrant exterior. It’s a feature that should appeal to anyone who likes the texture of air-fried food, but wants greater flexibility with what goes into the basket.

Capacity and touch control
The Smeg AFC01 boasts a generous 7.3-litre capacity which allows several portions to be cooked in a single batch. Seven presets cover common preparations, while manual time and temperature controls give cooks more scope to fine-tune recipes.
An intuitive touch display keeps the controls straightforward, and a large viewing window with an integrated light provides a clear view of the food as it cooks.
That means you can keep an eye on proceedings without repeatedly opening the appliance and interrupting the cooking cycle. Very cool.
Design and build quality are obviously top notch. A flip-open mechanism with central button release provides access to the removable basket. The basket itself has a non-stick ceramic coating, to make cooking and cleaning easier.
