Amazon is looking to carve itself a lucrative slice of the booming lifestyle TV market, with the announcement of the Amazon Ember Artline Fire TV series.
The Ember Artline marks Amazon’s debut in the fast-growing gallery TV sector. The category is currently led by Samsung’s long-running The Frame series.
Like its inspiration, the new model is designed to blend into a living space by displaying artwork or photography when in standby, rather than a blank black screen.
Tech specs look good. At its core, the Ember Artline is a 4K QLED Fire TV, featuring Dolby Vision and HDR10+, has a quartet of HDMI inputs (one with eARC), Wi-Fi 6 connectivity and sports a slim 38mm profile.
Amazon is positioning Ember as both an entertainment hub and a smart home device. Far-field mics allow hands-free Alexa voice control, while the company’s Omnisense tech uses built-in sensors to detect when someone enters or leaves the room, automatically switching the set’s Ambient Experience on or off to save energy.

4K screen and gallery-style design
A key aspect of the Ember Artline’s appeal is its matte display. Designed to reduce glare in bright rooms, the treatment also lends digital art and photographs a more paper-like appearance, closer to a framed print than conventional TV glass.
Artwork is drawn from a gallery of more than 2,000 free pieces, spanning styles such as fine art, nature and photography. Deeper personalisation comes via integration with Amazon Photos, allowing users to curate slideshows of their own images.
Visually, Amazon has leaned heavily into customisation. Each Ember Artline ships with a choice of one magnetic frame, designed to be easily attached and swapped without tools.
The Samsung Frame charges extra for its picture-style bezels.
Ten finishes are available at launch, including Walnut, Ash, Teak, Black Oak, Matte White, Midnight Blue, Fig, Pale Gold, Graphite and Silver. The idea is that the TV can be refreshed to match a room’s décor.
The Amazon Ember Artline will be available in two screen sizes: 55- and 65-inches. Pricing is set at £949.99 and £1,199.99 respectively, with one magnetic frame included in the box.
