Aultmore, Benriach and Dailuaine star in new Tailored Spirits Experimental Series whiskies

Aultmore 15 Year Old Tailored Spirits

Scottish whisky start-up, Tailored Spirits, has added to its micro-batch Experimental Series, with four limited bottlings that continue the company’s focus on flavour exploration and single-cask whisky character.

Based in Leith, Edinburgh, the business specialises in sourcing, maturing and bottling bespoke Scotch whiskies for collectors and private clients around the world.

The Experimental Series is designed to highlight distinctive flavour profiles from some of Scotland’s most expressive distilleries. Each release is drawn from a single cask and finished to emphasise a particular style or influence. The latest additions comprise Experiment 4 (Aultmore 15 Year Old), Experiment 5 (Echo – Benriach 13 Year Old), Experiment 6 (Fort – Dailuaine 13 Year Old) and the Special Experiment 1 Black Label (Anam – Springbank 23 Year Old).

All follow the brand’s recognisable design ethos, inspired by vintage ski resort tickets and laboratory bottles, with detachable ‘lab tickets’ that allow collectors to track each bottling.

“The design is as much a part of the experience as the whisky itself. It’s about evoking curiosity,  that sense of discovery and experimentation that sits at the heart of our brand,” says co-founder and director Adam Harding.

Experiment 4 – Aultmore 15 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky – 151 bottles,  £84.50

Aultmore’s gentle, orchard-forward spirit, bottled at 58.3% ABV,  is finished here in a European oak Montilla cask, lending richness and gentle sweetening. A vintage copper hue, it offers baked apple strudel, heather honey, and treacle tart on the nose, with dark plum, caramel apple, fig jam, and butterscotch on the palate.

Experiment 5 – Echo (Benriach 13 Year Old) – 81 bottles,  £82.50

Initially matured in bourbon barrels and re-racked into a first-fill PX sherry octave, this bottling offers a dense, sherried profile.

Bottled at 56.3% ABV, this dark ruby dram has a nose of brandy-soaked cake, toasted oak, malt loaf, and marzipan, transitioning to dark chilli chocolate, forest fruit preserve, and biscuit on the palate. The finish is said to be long, with sweet oaky and a hint of salted butter

Experiment 6 – Fort (Dailuaine 13 Year Old) – 109 bottles, £79.50

Matured in refill American oak and finished in a port cask, this is a bold 48.3% ABV, mahogany interpretation of Dailuaine, offering a combination of fruit, florals and deeper savoury touches. The nose has green pear, sticky toffee pudding, walnut cake, sandalwood, with a flavour profile of raspberries and blackberries, basil, elderflower syrup, sticky glazed ribs. The finish is fudgy and sweet.

Special Experiment 1  Black Label (Anam)  Springbank 23 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky – 33 bottles, £495

Available only to collectors who have acquired six Experimental Series releases, this Springbank special, at 53.9% ABV, is the most limited of the new collection.
On the nose, there’s spiced jam, ginger biscuits, plums, and engine smoke, with toasted spices, browned butter, caramelised pears, ripe apricot, and sea salt on the palate. The finish is dry, nutty and lingering.

The full Experimental Series, including these new bottlings, is available from Tailored Spirits via its website.
