Inside the new 2025 A Good Old-Fashioned Christmas Whisky Single Malt from The Whisky Exchange

An Old Fashioned Christmas and glasses

With the festive season approaching, The Whisky Exchange has unveiled the 2025 edition of A Good Old-Fashioned Christmas Whisky, a 16-Year-Old Highland Single Malt designed to capture the flavour and feeling of the season.

Bottled at 55% ABV and retailing for £79.95, this limited-edition release promises to deliver Christmas in a glass.

Each year, The Whisky Exchange curates a special bottling that evokes the warmth, nostalgia, and indulgence of the holidays. For 2025, the team explored hundreds of distilleries across Scotland before settling on this Highland malt, chosen for its rich sherry influence and festive spice.

No news on the chosen distillery but we can confirm that it’s a festive belter. Matured exclusively in first-fill Oloroso sherry butts, it combines deep fruit character with a velvety sweetness.

Warmth, spice and brandy butter

Bottled at 55% ABV, this year’s expression is presented at natural cask strength, free from chill filtration or added colouring. On the nose, it’s rich with traditional Christmas aromas: fruitcake,  dates, raisins, and glacé cherries, topped with flaked almonds. Notes of redcurrant and blackcurrant unfold alongside brown sugar, brandy butter, and cinnamon-dusted brioche.

The palate leads with layers of dried fruits, black treacle, and warming spice. A hint of mint chocolate introduces a playful twist before giving way to brandy-soaked Christmas pudding.

The finish lingers with dried fruits, peppery warmth, and a lift of candied citrus.
