LG is expanding its xboom Buds line-up this month with the launch of two new earbuds: the Buds Plus and Buds Lite. The additions build on the original xboom Buds, first introduced in January, share core features including graphene drivers, intelligent Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), and Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity – and they’ve also been tuned in collaboration with musician will.i.am.
All three earbuds – Buds Plus, Buds, and Buds Lite – offer up to 10 hours of continuous playback (or more in the case of Buds Lite), with charging cases extending that to as much as 35 hours. They support Google Fast Pair, Swift Pair and Multi-Point connectivity, making it straightforward to switch between devices.
Comfort has also been a design priority, says LG. Each set features multiple ear tip sizes and an ear hook design for added stability.
Each brings a tailored set of benefits for different users – and they’ve also been tuned in collaboration with musician will.i.am…
Buds Plus: for those who want more
The Buds Plus represent the most advanced option in the range. They incorporate Adaptive EQ, which adjusts the sound profile in real time based on how the earbuds sit, ensuring consistent bass and balanced sound even if the fit shifts slightly.
A triple-microphone system bolsters both ANC and call clarity, a welcome addition for frequent travellers or those taking calls in noisy environments. The accompanying app’s Noise Cancelling Optimisation tool even recommends the best ear tip fit to maximise isolation.
Practical touches include UVnano cleaning, which sanitises the ear gels while charging, and Plug & Wireless mode, which turns the case into a Bluetooth transmitter for use with non-wireless devices – ideal for using with in-flight entertainment systems.
Wireless charging and Auracast multi-device support round out a feature list that leans toward flexibility as much as performance.
Buds Lite: simplicity with stamina
The Buds Lite are more understated. They use the same graphene drivers as the Buds Plus, though tuned for a slightly more everyday profile. With 11.5 hours of playback on a single charge (and up to 35 with the case), they outlast their stablemates, making them a solid option for commuters.
There’s also Mild ANC, rather than the full system, on the Plus, but they add four EQ presets, giving listeners a degree of personalisation without complexity. The lightweight build and snug fit are designed to make them comfortable all day, whether in a café, library, or in the office.
The xboom Buds Plus and Buds Lite are available worldwide from September 2025. Prices are yet to be announced.
