Apple TV+ has dropped a first glimpse of Anya Taylor-Joy in Lucky, a noir-tinged tale of crime, love and betrayal, and if these smouldering first-look photos are anything to go by, we’re in for a ride as sleek and stylish as its star. With her signature intensity, a wardrobe to die for, and a plot drenched in high-stakes criminal intrigue, Lucky is already shaping up to be a must-watch event for Apple TV+ subscribers.
Based on the New York Times bestselling novel of the same name, Lucky tells the story of a young woman with a shady past and a very good reason to leave it all behind.
Years after walking away from the family business – crime, naturally – Taylor-Joy’s character is forced back into the underworld she thought she’d escaped. One last job, one final gamble, and a desperate chance to rewrite her fate…
The series, currently filming after kicking off production this week in Las Vegas, brings together an all-star team both in front of and behind the camera. Created by Jonathan Tropper (See, The Adam Project), Lucky comes via Apple Studios and Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine, with Taylor-Joy herself stepping into the role of executive producer through her Ladykiller production banner.
Anya-Taylor Joy can currently be seen on Apple TV+ alongside Miles Teller, in the Scott Derrickson Sci-Fi horror The Gorge, which has racking up record viewing figures for the streamer.

From page-turner to prestige drama
Canadian author Marissa Stapley came to prominence after Lucky was selected for Reese’s Book Club in December 2021.
Her previous best-sellers include Mating for Life, Things to Do When It’s Raining, and The Last Resort.
The novel follows the story of Lucky Armstrong, a talented grifter who has just pulled off a million-dollar heist with her boyfriend, Cary. Ready to start a new life with a new identity, things take a turn for the worse when she finds herself alone and on the run.
Lucky discovers that a lottery ticket she bought on a whim is worth millions, but cashing it in would mean getting arrested for her crimes. The series follows her escapades as she tries to avoid capture and make a future for herself.
If the twisty plot and Taylor-Joy’s icy magnetism isn’t enough to hook you, the supporting cast should seal the deal. Annette Bening stars as Priscilla, while powerhouse Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor (King Richard, Lovecraft Country) plays Billie. Timothy Olyphant joins the action as John, and Drew Starkey steps into the role of Lucky’s husband, Cary.
With episodes directed by the likes of Jonathan Van Tulleken (Presumed Innocent, The Old Man), Greg Yaitanes (House of the Dragon), and Jet Wilkinson (How to Get Away with Murder), Lucky promises to be a fast-paced rollercoaster ride.
Lucky is still in production, splitting filming between Las Vegas and Los Angeles, so you’ll have to wait a little longer for a trailer or release date. Stay tuned.
