According to research released by LG, 50 per cent of Brits claim their kitchen rivals the living room as a social space. 24 per cent say the kitchen has become more than just a food preparation area and 18 per cent claim it’s their own personal dancefloor.
To create the right atmosphere, almost half of the nation (45 per cent) would like to have a kitchen style and feel that can adapt and reflect their mood or occasion. With nearly a third (30 per cent) keen to change the look of their kitchen depending on the occasion.

Nearly half of the nation say dancing in the kitchen makes them happier (48 per cent) and over a third (39 per cent) say it helps boost their mood. Almost a quarter of people (24per cent) state dancing in their kitchen is their favourite guilty pleasure and 22 per cent agree it is one lockdown trend that isn’t going anywhere.
“Bringing energy to the kitchen is what life is all about,” says singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor. “It inspired me and my family to start our kitchen discos during lockdown and we’ve kept the tradition going ever since. I love bopping around with my family to a good playlist, usually disco or pop music, it’s a sure-fire way to lift your mood and act as a catharsis.”
Apparently, the most sought-after celebrity dance partners for kitchen dancing sessions include Rihanna (16 per cent), Shakira (15 per cent) and Taylor Swift (15 per cent).
Users can can link their music playlists to their LG MoodUP refrigerator via Bluetooth, and listen via the fridge’s inbuilt speakers.
