It’s time to rethink our relationship with truffles says top Italian truffle specialist La Rustichella

La Rustichella Truffle scallops

We’re just not obsessing enough about truffles. So says La Rustichella, an Italian luxury truffle brand, eager to challenge our preconceptions.

Founded in 1986, La Rustichella is determined to revolutionising the way we use the fabulous fungi, offering a range of premium products crafted from black and white truffles. As they make their mark in the UK, let’s delve into the exquisite offerings and experiences they bring to the table.

Truffles have long been considered a gourmet delicacy. With over 200 varieties, they come in a wide variety of flavours, but they’re notoriously difficult to source, hence their premium status. Traditionally, female pigs are used to hunt for truffles, thanks to their refined sense of smell. But can they really have a role in everyday cooking?

Recently, La Rustichella teamed up with Omina Wines to curate an unforgettable dining experience at the Roast restaurant in Borough Market, and The Luxe Review was there. The five-course meal showcased La Rustichella’s decadent truffle products paired with exquisite wines from Omina Romana winery, and there were surprises aplenty.

From homemade bread with truffle-infused butter to pan-seared scallops with truffle butter sauce, each dish showcased the versatility of truffles in haute cuisine.

Highlights of this inspirational pairing menu included Roast’s Signature Half Scotch Egg enlivened with wilted chard and truffle, and piccalilli foam, followed by Signature Beef Wellington with truffle mash and madeira jus.

Even the dessert, an apple crumble with white chocolate and truffle custard, left us craving more.

At the heart of La Rustichella’s offerings are its premium truffle products, including Black Truffle Pate, White Truffle Pate, and Black Truffle Olive Oil. Elevate your favourite dishes with a dollop of truffle pate or drizzle of truffle-infused olive oil, effortlessly adding depth and complexity to every bite.

Is the humble truffle really an everyday ingredient? The team at La Rustichella believe so. They suggest elevating your burger game with succulent beef patties infused with truffle oil, topped with Cheddar cheese and truffle mayonnaise.

Or how about a Truffle ramen, the rich pork broth, marinated eggs, and savoury truffle-infused noodles?

Alternatively, the thought of Chinese Steamed Ravioli is delighting our palate, delicate dumplings filled with pork, truffle carpaccio, and aromatic spices.

And if you’ve a sweet tooth, how about Truffle Tiramisu? A decadent twist on the classic tiramisu, featuring mascarpone cream infused with truffle honey.

Frankly, we’re convinced. It’s time to embrace the luxurious world of truffles, whether you’re a seasoned chef or an adventurous home cook.

La Rustichella offers a range of truffle products, including La Rustichella Black Truffle Pate, La Rustichella White Truffle Pate, and La Rustichella Black Truffle Olive Oil, prices start at £15, making these an easy and inexpensive way to zhuzh up your favourite meals.
