Cambridge Audio has partnered with Tim Burgess, lead singer of legendary Manchester indie-rockers The Charlatans, for the launch of a very special headphone edition.
The new Melomania M100 ‘How High Edition’ earphones feature a distinctive yellow-and-black colour scheme inspired by the iconic jacket worn by Burgess in The Charlatans’ 1997 music video for the single ‘How High.’
These True Wireless buds are not only a testament to Burgess’s iconic style but also a charitable endeavour aimed at supporting struggling grassroots musicians. They’re also packed with cutting edge audio tech…
And the icing on the cake? Cambridge has enlisted actor and musician Matt Berry to provide the headphone’s in-ear voice announcements…
The latest addition to the Cambridge Audio head-fi line-up, the Melomania M100 boast Active Noise Cancellation and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Sound aptX lossless for a superior hi-res listening experience.
They’re also specced with premium drivers and Class AB amplification, and boast a 10-hour battery life (16 hours with noise cancellation off).
Users can further personalise their audio with the new Melomania Connect control app, which offers a seven-band EQ and six presets tailored to different music genres.
Three sizes of silicone tips and two sizes of memory foam tips ensure a snug, noise-isolating seal.
Bluetooth 5.3 with LE Audio ensures seamless connectivity; Google Fast Pair and Microsoft Swift Pair are on hand to simplify usability. There’s also a low latency Gaming Mode for near-perfect screen/sound syncing.
And the icing on the cake? Cambridge has enlisted actor and musician Matt Berry to provide the headphone’s in-ear voice announcements. We’ve had an early listen to these new headphones, and can confirm there’s no one we’d rather have pronouncing in our ears than Toast of London.
The London-based Hi-Fi outfit is releasing 300 Madchester-flavoured Melomania M100 How High Edition earphones, and ten percent of each sale will be donated to the Help Us Help Bands project, a charity close to Burgess’s heart.
This initiative aims to provide assistance to struggling musicians by funding studio time, replacing stolen equipment, supporting merchandising efforts, and so on.
Of the limited run, 50 will be available in a bundle with the Hikerdelic x Tim Burgess How High Tour Bag, exclusively from hikerdelic.com.
James Johnson-Flint, owner of Cambridge Audio, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, emphasising the brand’s commitment to supporting the musical community.
“Without musicians being able to share their art with the world, there would be no Cambridge Audio. Our driving passion is music and expertly crafting products that connect people to it in the most compelling ways,” he says.
The Melomania M100 How High Edition earphones are available now at cambridgeaudio.com, priced at £169. The regular edition M100 is available here from Amazon, for the same price.
