Few dishes capture the essence and passion of a country quite like Jamón…
Jamón, or Spanish cured ham, holds a special place in the hearts and palates of food enthusiasts around the world. Its distinct flavours, delicate texture, and centuries-old tradition make it a foodie favourite.
What sets Jamón apart from other hams is its meticulous production process, which adheres to time-honoured techniques passed down through generations.
Traditionally made from acorn-fed pigs known as ‘Pata Negra’ or Ibérico pigs, Jamón goes through a lengthy curing period, often lasting for years. The unique microclimate of Spain, combined with the pigs’ diet and breed, results in a ham that exudes unparalleled depth of flavour and tenderness.
There are different styles of Jamón, each with its own distinct characteristics. The most sought-after variety is Jamón Ibérico de Bellota, made from acorn-fed Ibérico pigs. This prized ham boasts a marbled appearance, a velvety texture, and a complex, nutty flavour.
Another popular style is Jamón Serrano, which is made from white pigs and offers a slightly milder taste. It is typically cured for a shorter period, making it more accessible and affordable while still delivering a delightful experience.
On the menu at the El Pirata Supper Club event will be marinated Chicken Skewers with Chorizo, Prawn Fritters, Grilled Bavette with Peppers, Baby Squid, and Chickpeas Stew. Concluding on a sweet note, there’s creamy and caramelised Crema Catalana.
As for the wines, you’ll have to wait for the event to find out what the restaurant’s wine ambassador has in store.
The three-hour event is priced at £85 per person and tickets can be purchased here.

Sometimes it’s a restaurant’s menu that grabs me. Other times, it’s a viral TikTok or a rave review from a pal. But Noodle & Beer had me before I even saw a single dish – for this Chinatown outpost, the name alone was enough. Because honestly, if there’s a better combination in the world than…
