Crafty: Bill Bailey heads up Sky TV 2023 unscripted programme slate

Sky has offered a look at its upcoming slate for Sky Arts, Sky Documentaries, Sky Crime, and Sky Nature. With 12 brand-new original commissions, we’re promised a year full of eye-opening discoveries, nail-biting suspense, rock ‘n’ roll… and whales.

On Sky Arts,  AC/DC’s Brian Johnson and Dire Straits’ Mark Knopfler join forces for six-parter Good Times. The rock legends will romp through the history of pop alongside special guests, including Sam Fender and Emmylou Harris. There’s also the self-explanatory Greatest Guitar Riffs incoming.

Art enthusiasts won’t want to miss the intriguing docu Decoding Turner, in which two enthusiasts, helped by art historians and academics, look for hidden codes they believe are woven into Turner’s paintings.  

Master Crafters is also returning, albeit with new host Bill Bailey. Bill Bailey’s Master Crafters: The Next Generation will see Bill join junior crafters and seasoned experts as they explore wood carving, stained glass and silversmithing.

Heading to Sky Documentaries is Zuckerberg: King of the Metaverse, a look at the life and legacy of Mark Zuckerberg. This feature doc journeys through the creation of Facebook and Meta, and reportedly features archive footage and revealing interviews. 

True crime addicts can investigate the dark underbelly of Dublin with Dublin Narcos, from the team behind BAFTA award-winning Liverpool Narcos; explore the mystery of Gone: Ireland’s Vanishing Triangle and uncover the shocking truth behind one of the 90s most brutal multiple murders in Who Killed Lin and Megan Russell?

If eco crime is your bag, you’re also in luck. Look out for The Great Rhino Robbery on your planner.

For sports enthusiasts, there’s Daley, the adrenaline-fueled story of the remarkable Daley Thompson, the first athlete ever to hold wins in the Olympic, World, Commonwealth and European competitions simultaneously.

Finally, on Sky Nature, Steve Backshall is all at sea, as he swims with whales and dolphins, in Whale with Steve Backshall.

New Disney+ featurette sets the scene for Star Wars The Mandalorian Season 3

Streaming mouse house Disney+ has dropped a behind the scenes featurette for the third season of The Mandalorian, along with new poster art.
