Review: Metropolitan Casino Mayfair is London’s hip new entertainment hot spot

Kimberly Wyatt and Jodie Kidd place their bets at the Metropolitan casino

Celebrities flocked to the opening of London’s newest luxury casino, the Metropolitan Casino in Mayfair. Ashley Roberts, Jodie Kidd and Kirsty Gallacher were just three famous faces enjoying opening night action.

TLR attended the VIP opening night, and was swept away by the new casino’s cool, contemporary vibe. Think member’s club via The Aria, Las Vegas, but unmistakably West End.

Refurbished and rebranded, and indistinguishable from its former operation, the venue’s interior is dressed to impress; this opulent entertainment destination wows as soon as you enter its marble foyer.

The first floor offers a classic mix of tables and high tech gaming machines. The lighting design is bright yet stylish, and the seating lush. A covered outdoor terrace encourages you to play the slots or try your hand at Blackjack or Punto Banco al fresco.

There’s an extensive central bar that offers a wide variety of curated cocktails, like the Cuban Mayfair (delicious), while the art-deco themed restaurant features a winning international menu from Chef Lalit. For the grand unveiling, a wide variety of uniformly delicious canapes circulated, from crispy spring rolls and precious prawn dumplings, to morish mini-burgers. Bodes well.

Driving home the lively atmosphere were DJ sets from Jaime Winstone and Mary Charteris.

Operating daily from 2pm until 6am, the Metropolitan Casino is the eleventh addition to the Metropolitan Gaming portfolio, which operates casinos across the UK and Egypt.

Our verdict: The London casino scene has a hip new hot spot, and this is it!
