The last thing we thought we needed was a watch strap woven from rooster feathers, but now we’ve seen this innovative collaboration between Reservoir watches and celebrated French Plumassier workshop Atelier M. Marceau, we’re cock-a-hoop.
The two houses have joined together to create a tailor-made watch strap for the Reservoir Tiefenmesser Bronze Plume. The bracelet is crafted from hand-braided, ethically-sourced rooster feathers which have been intricately woven in diagonals onto calfskin leather.
Feathers are selected for their correct width, all matched according to the smallest nuances of colour. Once prepped, the feathers are braided diagonally for maximum shine and definition. The process takes place in several stages, totaling ten hours.

Both houses are celebrated for their creativity and expert technical know-how. Reservoir invented the first (and only) Swiss Made jumping hour dial with retrograde minute hand on the market, while Maxime Leroy founder of M.Marceau, regularly collaborates with industry icons in the worlds of fashion, art, photography, cinema and interior design.
Says Francoise-Marie Neycensas, chief marketing officer for Reservoir: “Our two young luxury houses showcase French elegance and Swiss precision, for a resolutely contemporary luxury.”
Additional feather straps will be released in November
Marceau is responsible for memorable pieces of haute couture fashion for Chanel, Givenchy, Jean Paul Gaultier and Louis Vuitton. Apparently the feather artisan even has feathers on the dashboard of his Autobianchi convertible.
Reservoir says further collaborations will be released from the coup in November 2020, with the Longbridge collection which will present straps in green, black and brown plumes.
The Tiefenmesser Bronze Plume has a slim 43mm 36L bronze case, with white and blue dial and anti-reflective sapphire crystal. It has a self-winding movement, with 37 hours power reserve, and is water resistant to 5ATM. Quick release spring bars ensure easy changing of strap, and there’s an additional NATO strap provided.
Available now, the Tiefenmesser Bronze Plume sells for £4,350, with the bracelet available separately for £450.
