If Jaffa Cakes and gin sound like a marriage made in heaven, then you’ve come to right place. Master of Malt has just dropped off its new Jaffa Cake Gin at TLR Towers, and we’re still coming to terms with its innovative deliciousness.
Distilled with oranges, fresh orange peel, cocoa powder and (yes) real-life Jaffa Cakes, it’s the new taste of summer (or at least, a slightly overcast summer, when a little bit of cakey comfort provides welcome compensation for the clouds).
Jaffa Cake Gin comes in a bright bold cork-sealed bottle, and can be purchased separately or as part of a Jaffa Cake Negroni Cocktail Bundle (see the recipe below).
It’s just what you want for a Negroni, and if you’re feeling whimsical, why not garnish with an actual Jaffa cake!
Jaffa Cake Gin Bundle with Campari and Martini
Naturally we had to put it to the TLR taste test, discovering that it’s a surprisingly adroit flavour combination. There’s the unmistakable flavour of Jaffa cakes, underpinned by a base of juniper. If you’ve got a sweet tooth, the combo could prove irresistible. Just what you want for a Negroni, in fact, and if you’re feeling whimsical, why not garnish with an actual Jaffa cake!
Of course, a classic G&T works nicely too…
Jaffa Cake Gin and tonic – that’ll do nicely
Before you make this Negroni, make sure you sample the Jaffa Cake Gin (no ice!) to appreciate its native flavour. You’ll pick up hints of marmalade, and a tease of chocolate, and just maybe a little bit of sponge too.
Suddenly you’ll realise that you have Jaffa cakes on your palate! It’s not too sweet though, and there’s a parting tang of cocoa. Once you know what you’re dealing with, treat yourself to this Negroni recipe!
