An all new version of the dystopian science fiction classic Brave New World is heading to Sky. Updating Aldous Huxley’s landmark 1932 novel, this new Sky Original imagines a Utopian society that has achieved peace and stability through draconian restraints. Privacy, monogamy, privacy, money and family are all prohibited.
The series stars Alden Ehrenreich (Solo: A Star Wars Story), Jessica Brown Findlay (Downton Abbey), Harry Lloyd (Game of Thrones) and Demi Moore.
As citizens of New London, Bernard Marx (Harry Lloyd) and Lenina Crowne (Jessica Brown Findlay) have only ever known a rigid social order. Curious to explore life beyond the strictures of their society, the two New Worlders embark on a vacation to the Savage Lands, where they become embroiled in a harrowing and violent rebellion.
Bernard and Lenina are rescued by John the Savage (Alden Ehrenreich), who escapes with them back to New London. John’s arrival in the New World soon threatens to disrupt its utopian harmony, leaving Bernard and Lenina to grapple with the repercussions. The three become entwined in a fraught relationship that awakens them to the dangers of their own conditioning.
Produced in association with Amblin Television, the show has David Wiener (Homecoming, The Killing) as showrunner, with legendary comics writer Grant Morrison co-executive producing. Owen Harris (Black Mirror: San Junipero, Black Mirror: Striking Vipers) will direct the first two episodes and executive produce the series.
There’s no transmission date yet, but this one is definitely going on our watch list…
