A crack team of small luxe businesses are raising money for the NHS to help fight COVID-19 – and giving you the chance to win some gorgeous prizes at the same time.
‘Small Businesses 4 NHS’ is a collaboration of independent designer brands across the country. Each week, the small-business brands donate a different luxury prize into a raffle where tickets cost £5, and every Sunday a winner is picked. All of the proceeds of the initiative go directly to the NHS Charities Together fund: COVID-19 Urgent Appeal.
As well as raising vital funds, it might just introduce you to your new favourite independent designer.
Every parasol in the collection is created from beautiful handmade fabrics with block printed patterns ranging from parrots to palm prints
One such indie brand is The East London Parasol Company, who last week offered one of their handmade parasols up for grabs to a lucky winner who will now be enjoying a colourful, stylish upgrade to brighten their patio in lockdown. Say goodbye to boring garden-centre-green furniture: Lucy Ferguson, the founder of East London Parasol Company, takes inspiration from her travels in Southern India, and every parasol in the collection is created from beautiful handmade fabrics with block printed patterns ranging from parrots to palm prints.
The design given away to raise money for the charity is the Marvin parasol (priced at £315). It’s hand block printed with shades of blue and green in a stunning peacock pattern with opulent gold tassels – and well worth a raffle entry.
The Small Businesses 4 NHS initiative was started by socially responsible, Indian-inspired womenswear designer Kapara London and beautiful bespoke lamp company Laurie Lamps, and will offer a wide range of prestige prizes to raise money every week.
Raffle tickets cost £5 and can be bought via Instagram or the Just Giving page. Follow the Small Businesses 4 NHS Instagram for all the details on raffle entry and weekly giveaway updates. A fiver has never been better spent.
