The Panasonic TX-55GZ2000 is the best 4k home cinema OLED TV you can buy

If you want an all-in-one entertainment solution that’s certified luxe, this is it...

The GZ2000 flagship OLED screen from Panasonic isn’t just the best 4k picture performer we’ve seen so far, it also has the most convincing implementation of Dolby Atmos sound ever bolted to a TV screen.

If you want an all-in-one entertainment solution that’s certified luxe, this is it. Also available as a 65-incher, it’s nothing less than a full blown home theatre, no extra sonic hardware required. For home cinema fans it really doesn’t get much more exciting than this.

Image quality is superb, with sublime fine detail, excellent near shadow performance and perfectly judged colours.

It’s easy to see why OLED is so popular. This is a self emissive display, so no backlight is required. Display characteristics include a perfect deep black performance, vibrant hues and a wide viewing angle.

Panasonic’s GZ2000 features a Pro Edition panel

Panasonic’s HCX Pro Intelligent processor delivers fantastic detail and the set’s HDR performance is class leading. Thanks to clever heat management techniques,  this Pro Edition panel can be driven harder to offer higher average screen brightness than rival OLED panels.

Another feather in its cap is universal HDR support. The panel embraces both dynamic metadata standards, Dolby Vision and HDR10+, as well as broadcast HLG and HLG Photo, all made more luscious by this bespoke Pro Edition OLED glass. Simply put, this panel makes the most of everything it gets.

Even the remote control is luxe

Design is slick. The ultra-thin bezel sits close to the central pedestal stand, distinguished  by a forward-facing speaker bar that handles left, centre, right channel duties.

On the rear you’ll find the Atmos speaker module, which incorporates two upfiring drivers. It’s these that create a sense of height and overhead audio.

Smart connectivity is delivered by the customisable My Home Screen platform.  In addition to a full suite of catch-up TV services, courtesy of Freeview Play, you get all key streaming apps, including Netflix, YouTube and Amazon Prime Video.

And yes, the GZ2000 also works with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa voice control.
