Champagne and shepherd’s pie: The Ivy unveils limited edition menu to celebrate Downton Abbey finale

DOWNTON ABBEY The Grand Finale horse racing sequence

The Ivy is marking the release of Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale with a limited edition menu inspired by the world of the Crawley family and their bustling household.

Since its debut in 2010, Downton Abbey has become a global phenomenon, bringing the traditions and intrigues of early 20th-century English aristocracy to millions of viewers. The latest film, billed as the final chapter, arrives in cinemas on September 12, and The Ivy Collection is serving its own tribute from September 3, across restaurants nationwide.

Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale is the third film in the beloved franchise, bringing a poignant close to the Crawley family saga. Set in the 1930s, the drama is set against a backdrop of scandal, financial upheaval, and generational change. The movie reunites many original cast members, including Michelle Dockery, Hugh Bonneville, Elizabeth McGovern, Jim Carter, Joanne Froggatt, and Penelope Wilton.

The Ivy’s new Downton Abbey menu

The ‘Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale at The Ivy’ menu offers two courses for £27.95 or three for £34.95. Dishes nod to the elegance of period dining, reinterpreted with The Ivy’s contemporary touch. Starters include Severn & Wye Smoked Salmon and a Salade Du Verger with figs, pecans, and truffle vinaigrette.

Main courses range from The Ivy Shepherd’s Pie, made with slow-braised lamb and beef, to Grilled Lemon Sole with beurre noisette and capers. Vegetarian diners can opt for a Garden Vegetable Curry, while other highlights include Braised Duck Curry and a 21-day aged Sirloin Steak.

Desserts bring a suitably theatrical close, with choices such as a Chocolate Dome with honeycomb, a flambéed Orchard Apple Tart, and a traditional Crème Brûlée. Guests may also raise a glass with The Ivy Guest Champagne or a 1930s-style Gilded Peach Cobbler cocktail.

(Note that we’re told the menu at The Original Ivy, in West Street, London, will differ somewhat.)

Executive Chef Sean Burbidge says the dishes aim to reflect “the elegance of the era, inspired by the film’s characters, 1930s flavours, and even dishes once served at The Original Ivy.”

We can’t wait.
