When Redbreast 15 Year Old first appeared in 2005, few could have predicted the enduring affection it would earn among whiskey enthusiasts. What began as a one-off has become a mainstay of the Redbreast portfolio, a staple for those drawn to the brand’s rich pot still character and complex sherry influence.
Now, to mark the 20th anniversary of that fortuitous foray, Redbreast returns with a limited-edition Cask Strength version of its iconic 15 Year Old. Bottled at a robust 56.3% ABV, this cask strength edition intensifies the rich, distillate-driven style that fans have enjoyed for two decades.
Priced at £110, this one-off bottling is already looking like a serious proposition for collectors and connoisseurs alike.

A closer look at the liquid
The whiskey has been crafted from 15 carefully selected casks, a combination of ex-bourbon barrels and Oloroso sherry-seasoned wood. The bourbon brings vanilla, toffee and sweet spice, while the sherry wood imparts dried fruit, gentle tannins and a subtle nuttiness.
Master Blender Dave McCabe describes it as “a celebration of everything Redbreast 15 Year Old represents – heritage, craftsmanship, and character,” while Master Blender Emeritus Billy Leighton calls it “a bold tribute to our fans and a reminder that every batch, like every Redbreast, has its own unique personality.”
Redbreast 15 Year Old Cask Strength tasting notes
According to official notations, this emboldened 15 Year Old offers dried fruits and toasted oak on the nose, followed by a lift of bright citrus and herbal undertones.
On the palate expect a medley of cinnamon, nutmeg and a hint of chilli oil, layered atop waves of red berry, vanilla and toffee. The sherry influence lends a nuttiness and tannic grip to complement the herbal, spicy character beneath.
Non-chill filtered, the mouthfeel is reportedly weighty and textured, while the finish is said to be long and evolving.
Each bottle comes batch-stamped, a nod to the single-release nature of this exciting expression.
