The best of Aldi’s festive food range hits stores this week – what to buy and when to buy it

Wagyu Tomahawk steak from Aldi

Award-winning wagyu, tasty Tomahawk steaks and fresh lobster tails are just some of the luxury festive treats being rolled out across Aldi stores this week.

The chain has everything you’ll need to create a luxurious Christmas spread at prices that won’t leave you feeling like Scrooge.

The Luxe Review has had an early tasting, and reckon Aldi’s 2024 Christmas range could turn any festive table into a culinary extravagance.

These are the highlights you’ll want to shop for….

Premium seafood to steal the show

Seafood lovers are in for a treat. Launching December 19, the Specially Selected Lobster Tails with Roasted Garlic/Thermidor (£12.99, 254g) provide a succulent centrepiece, at 35 per cent less than Waitrose. Ready-prepared with rich Thermidor butter or the simplicity of roasted garlic, these tails are an ideal festive starter.

For the full crustacean experience, Aldi’s Specially Selected Whole Cooked Lobster (£7.99, 400g) is available now, at an unbeatable price for tender, rich lobster.

If you crave a sophisticated starter, opt for the Specially Selected Exquisite British King Scallops (£4.99, 140g), wild-caught and beautifully plump, available from December 19.

For those wanting something indulgently creamy, the Specially Selected Scallop Gratin (from £3.29) combines perfectly cooked scallops with flavours like Pea & Mint, Monsigny Champagne, or flaky Puff Pastry; it’s available now.

If that wasn’t enough, the exquisite Specially Selected Orkney Crab Claw Meat (£5.99, 100g) adds a final flourish of ‘so-fish-tication’ to the table, when it debuts December 19.

Award-winning wagyu to win them over

Aldi’s biggest ever wagyu range hits stores December 19. Taking centre stage is the Specially Selected Wagyu Tomahawk (£24.99 per kg), crowned ‘Product of the Year’ by the Quality Food Awards for 2024.

With its marbled, juicy texture and decadent flavour, this showstopper proves you don’t need to spend a fortune to deliver a memorable festive main. We can vouch that it tastes sensational.

Other highlights include the Specially Selected Wagyu Wing Rib (£24.99 per kg), a buttery, melt-in-the-mouth cut, and the Peppercorn Crusted Wagyu Picanha (£24.99 per kg), packed with bold flavour and tender texture.

For those seeking the ultimate in festive indulgence, Aldi’s Specially Selected Wagyu Chateaubriand (£39.99, 750g) offers a perfectly tender cut of wagyu sure to wow even the most discerning guests – and yes, it’s delicious.

Not to forget forget the party crowd, Aldi’s bite-sized Mini Wagyu Burger Sliders with Cheese & Chimichurri (£4.99, 280g) are in store now, perfect for entertaining in style.

A sweet end to the festive feast

No Christmas menu is complete without a show-stopping dessert. The Specially Selected Ultimate Gold Coin (£6.99, 470g), available from December 21, a rich chocolate ganache on a biscuit base, topped with caramel and finished in a dazzling gold shell.

Returning by popular demand, the Specially Selected Millionaire’s Bauble (£7.99, 500g), a star of last year’s Channel 4 hit Aldi’s Christmas Secrets, layers Belgian chocolate, salted caramel, brownies, and ganache for a decadent centrepiece dessert.

Christmas pudding perfection

Those craving a classic Christmas pudding will find plenty of enticing twists in Aldi’s festive line-up. Highlights include the new Specially Selected Caramel Panettone Sponge Pudding (£6.49, 450g), a blend of Italian panettone and silky caramel, and the Marc de Champagne Christmas Pudding (£4.99, 400g), offering a refined finish to your family feast.

For a true showstopper, consider the Specially Selected 24 Month Mature Christmas Pudding (£7.99, 800g). Aged for two years, it promises deep, rich flavours perfect for traditionalists.

Also new this year are the Gingerbread & Butterscotch Christmas Pudding (£8.99), Triple Chocolate Sponge Pudding (£6.49), and Burnt Caramel & Rum Pudding (£4.99).
