If you grew up chewing Bazooka Joe bubble gum, you’ll love this limited single cask whisky

The first release from Cask & Bottle Co, bottled in a bar

Whisky fans take note. There’s a new company looking for a space on your bar cart. Cask & Bottle Co, a joint venture with The Vintage Group, has a mission to make limited run single cask whisky more inclusive and accessible.

Its first release is a Single Malt, distilled at the Mannochmore Distillery in Speyside.

The team behind the brand maintain they’re not just about launching fine drams, they also want to create an inclusive community ‘that shatters whisky stereotypes and unites connoisseurs and newcomers alike.’  Suitably intrigued, we had to sample the liquid…

The launch, an exclusive hand-picked 10-year-old single cask liquid, is limited to 391 bottles…

Cask & Bottle Co Single Cask Malt Whisky Aged 10 Years tasting notes

Limited run single cask whiskeys are released one cask at a time. This inaugural offering, from a decade old single hogshead cask (no. 2403), is limited to just 391 bottles, and is bottled at 46.7% ABV.

Non chill filtered, the liquid is wan of hue, and offers dark cherries and marzipan on the nose. On the palate this develops into a full blown fruit cake, with notes of liquorice and aniseed.

Agreeably light and smooth in the mouth, when it exits I’m reminded of Bazooka Joe, the bubble gum that I used to enjoy as a kid, the one that came with a little comic strip wrapped in the packet.

Needless to say, my sample bottle didn’t last long.

The Cask & Bottle Single Malt Aged 10 Years is priced at £85, and is available from caskandbottleco.com

Batch 38: Pineapple Bananza stands out for both its origin and production style. Irish whiskey is an infrequent guest in the Society’s portfolio,…
